Flame Bowl (L)

This piece is made entirely by hand using responsibly and locally sourced sheesham or Indian Rosewood (Dalbergia sissoo) which is seasoned over a period of time using traditional methods. The piece is then hand turned on a lathe machine. The piece is then cut in along its edges to create the pattern. Once completed the piece is lightly burnished and charred by fire. A metal brush is used to draw back the burnished wood to reveal the intricate grains and patterns. The piece is then lightly sanded and oiled before it is left to dry naturally. Each piece takes several days to create.
